If you’re going to attempt to recognize the blessings amidst your trials, don’t use your eyes but your heart. The eyes will just give up on the possibility of the presence of a blessing wrapped inside an adversity. Use your heart instead. The heart can see through the curtain and wall.
Maybe, that’s the reason why Antoine De Saint-Exupéry wrote in The Little Prince, “It is only in the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.”
Look at these two teenagers. They were semi-finalists in the Britain’s Got Talent 2014. The boy to the left was bullied as a kid. He managed to write the lyrics of a song. That song helped them win not only the hearts and cheers of the audience but also Simon Cowell’s push on the golden buzzer.
Here’s their winning audition.
I was bullied so I know the psychological pain that bullying can cause. If I had to choose between being psychically beaten and being bullied, I would choose the former. You see, two decades have already passed, but I’m still in the healing process. Up to this time, I still have a very high defensive mechanism. I’m ever-ready to throw a karate chop in the neck each time I sense an attack in any way and form.
But like these two guys, that pain gave birth to one of the greatest blessings in my life. I have developed this talent in writing. I wrote fictional stories of monsters and heroes. I was the hero in every story. The monsters were the bullies. Every story I wrote ended in victory. That gave me a sense of relief. Between counselling and journal writing, I believe the latter is a more effective kind of therapy, at least, for me.
I joined regional and nationwide writing competitions. I won some. Some of those winnings helped me finance my college education. Today, I own a content writing business that have served thousands of entrepreneurs around the world from small-scale to large-scale businesses.
Who would have thought that the disgusting experience from being bullied had acted as a fertilizer to grow the awesomeness that is inside of me?
If you are in life’s rock-bottom and you happen to read this on my website, please know that I wrote this for you. When you eyes, heart, and mind tell you that there’s no more hope, remember that God is still in the throne. One touch of God’s favor can change things around. I have observed that life has its own unique way of turning our pain into power if we remain faithful in believing that all things work for good to those who love God. Sometimes, our biggest blessings are camouflaged as our greatest trials.
James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”
Listen to this song. It’s a musical representation of what I wrote.
I am not the best writer, but I hope God will twist every single word I wrote so that this article will become His message for you. I just felt in my heart that I have to write this one. Thank you for reading.
