Happy Father’s Day!

“Kapag nag-pamilya ka, malalaman mo rin.”
[Trans: Once you have a family of your own, you’ll understand.]

Have you heard that phrase from your parents when you were younger and single?

It’s not easy to be a father. I think it’s one of the most, if not the only, noble job in the world. Maybe that’s the reason why “father” was the title mentioned by Jesus when He taught us the “Our Father” prayer. It could have been King of Kings, President of Presidents, or 100-star General, but He titled Himself “father”.

I think God did not design fatherhood to be easy. He designed fatherhood because He wants me, a father, to experience how to be really happy, not by pursuing happiness, but by pursuing the happiness of the people whom I love the most. When I see them happy, their happiness radiates in me. That is when I become happy.

When I said something bad to my wife and I give her my sincere apology, hug her and cry together, that’s when I experience happiness.

When I realize I have spent more time holding my computer’s mouse than the hand of my son, out of nowhere, I run to him and give him a tight hug. Then, we play together. That’s when I experience happiness.

God has a unique way of orchestrating things.

There’s more to life than stock trading and doing business.
I don’t know if this is true, but I read something that says when a human dies, her or his brain still works for 5 to 7 minutes. It’s in a dream state recalling the person’s memories. Kasaklap naman if sa last 7 minutes na yun, stock trading pa rin ang memory na lalabas. Kalungkot naman if pagsesend ng invoice ang lalabas na memory in the last minute.

Tomorrow, it’s the Father’s Day.

Happy Father’s Day, Mga Tatay! 🙂
