Kerygma Conference 2013 – Be Empowered!

Kerygma Conference 2013

It seems like it was just yesterday when my wife, son and I went to Bo Sanchez’ Kerygma Conference 2012 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena and SMX Convention Center.
I can still vividly remember the emotion I felt the moment my wife and I (we didn’t bring our son on the first day) stepped inside the MOA Arena.
I was wowed not because it was my first time to step inside the MOA Arena.
I was wowed because I had that extraordinary feeling I don’t regularly feel every day.
I was like, “Is this Heaven?” Man, believe you me.
I wonder if SM was using special types of air conditioner.
The cool breeze of air passing through my nostrils, man, I was on clouds!
It felt like there was Vicks vaporizer in my nostrils.
You see, I can’t even explicitly describe how astonished I was.

Kerygma Conference 2012

Let me confess something.
During my teenage years (I think I was in high school already then), my two aunts were bringing me to their weekly spiritual gathering somewhere in one place in our town.
I didn’t like it. Haha. I really didn’t.
When everyone was standing and dancing on their feet, there I was sitting between my two aunts, showing my tantrums so they would feel I wanted to go home not later than “now”.
But my technique didn’t work.
The more I expressed my discomfort to their dancing, singing and shouting of “halleluiah”, the more they dance and sing and the louder they shout “halleluiah”.
Poor Jaycee. I had no choice but to get along with them.
So I stood up and clapped my hands with a sound that even I couldn’t hear.

Oh boy, the exact opposite happened at the Kerygma Conference 2012.
I got lost. I didn’t care what my seatmate was thinking.
Were they saying, “Ang OA naman nito”? [Translation: This man’s overreacting!] I don’t know, at least, I didn’t kill Jose Rizal (I haven’t taken my dinner yet so I’m hallucinating right now).
Kidding aside, I gave my all.
On the first day (Saturday), my wife and I were jumping, shouting and singing even if my voice could only blend with the croaks and ribbits of frogs during the rainy season.
On the second day (Sunday), we did the same but we jumped higher, shouted louder and sang more off of the tune.
My 5-year old son, not knowing what his father was doing, joined our jumping, shouting and singing like a little frog so that made me sound like a bull frog (ha,ha).

The fellowship and worship songs and programs at the Kerygma Conference 2012 were so fantastic, marvelous and transformational.
I was moved.
I was changed.
I was improved.

If I were to list down the most important changes that happened in my life when my family attended the Kerygma Conference 2012, it would be these:
I am healthier.
I am wealthier.
I am more generous.
I am more loving to my wife, parents, in-laws and the people that have a direct influence in my life.
I am more understanding in almost every situation.
I am more calm and patient.
I can go on and on and on.
I just so love it.

This coming Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be attending the Kerygma Conference 2013 with the theme “Be Empowered!”
